Whoever said betting was only on sports? William Hill, a bookmaker, is giving short odds on CEO’s this year, as they seem to be the hot topic everywhere. At the top of the list is the one and only Tidjane Thiam, chief executive of Prudential. After the failure of Prudential’s bold move to take over AIA, the Asian arm of AIG, pressure is building on the CEO to simply resign on principle. The list also includes Tony Hayward of BP, who is clearly destined for the door. Yet, not all CEO’s are in hot water for mismanagement, as Steve Jobs poor health conditions might force him out. I would love to see a similar list for CEO’s in Kuwait, only difference is that all odds are going to be zero, since CEO’s never seem to get fired nor step down.
