The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) released a while back a report reviewing 2009. The report had a letter from then-Managing Director Ahmed Al Nehyan, a benchmark range of the distribution of their investments by assets class and reion, ADIA’s investment strategy and activities, managers selection process, and the authority’s governance. The report is well-prepared, and could be found in their website.
I applaud ADIA for such a step, although we need more. I don’t understand why Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWF)don’t disclose more information about their activities. A simple disclosure of how much is being managed by the fund, and what is the asset class allocation will hurt nobody. Such dislosures will help ease the fears about SWF’s activites. Many politicans in the West are calling for regulations to force SWF disclose more information. A move by SWF to disclose this type of information before they are forced to is better for their image and reputation.

No. I even checked the spam.

SWF’s, specifically the KIA, should be subject to much greater scrutiny and oversight than private funds. Yet, they fail to show any sort of disclosure to the public, as it is at the end of the day the people’s money.
Naser, wish you’d add a link to the report

‘Many politicans in the West are calling for regulations to force SWF disclose more information”
that is the very reason they should not be disclousing more…… then these politicians will come to sell us either their failed bankrupt companies (Bank of America, Citi etc) or sell us more weapons that we don’t even know what to do with!!!
gulf nations are too weak and too narrow minded (i.e. not acting as one real entity, as each head is looking only after his tiny prize) to be able to defend themselves from outside bullying…..disclousing more would encourge more bullying and more selling of junk to us!
